​​At Tech-Takeback, we believe everyone deserves access to the digital world. Our digital inclusion scheme aims to support people who are digitally excluded by offering free laptops to those who need them most.
Who can apply?

• Our scheme supports people who do not have access to a working laptop or tablet and are facing barriers to essential online services like work, education, healthcare or social connection.
• You can apply for yourself, or be referred by someone else (such as a charity, GP, social worker, teacher, or other trusted professional).

What You’ll Receive

• A refurbished laptop, wiped, tested, and ready to use
• Free of charge, delivered to your home address
• You’ll be notified if your application is successful​

What do we ask of you?

• ​If your application is successful, we’ll also ask you to complete a follow-up survey in 6–12 months, so we can learn how the laptop has supported you and how we can improve our services.
• Your information will only be used to contact you about this scheme and will never be shared without your permission.​

What Should I Include In My Application?

• Your current situation (e.g. work, benefits, caring responsibilities, etc.)
• Whether you have a laptop, tablet, or only a phone
• How you currently access the internet
• What you’d use the laptop for
• How this will help in your daily life

Examples of Strong Applications

• “I am a single parent in Brighton, using my phone to help my children access schoolwork. We can’t afford a laptop and this would help us hugely.”
• “I’m a carer in London and have been unemployed for a year. I’d use the laptop for online courses and to stay in touch with family.”

 

Who do we prioritise?
We receive more requests than we can currently fulfil. So we assess applications based on:

• Location: people living in Brighton & Hove, City of London and Tower Hamlets, where our funding partners are based. 
• Trusted partners: referrals from established charity partners and other agencies will be given priority
• Device Access: people who do not currently have access to a working laptop or PC.
• Financial Hardship: people on low incomes or receiving benefits such as Universal Credit, PIP, Housing Benefit, etc. 
• Isolation or Need: people who are isolated, carers, unemployed, disabled, or in difficult circumstances. 
• Explanation Given: we prioritise clear and honest applications explaining why the laptop is needed and how it will help.
