Tech-Takeback deliver 23 refurbished laptops to Carlton Hill Primary School as part of Level Up Laptops Appeal

Tech-Takeback has made a second delivery of refurbished laptops to local children without access to IT equipment for home education on behalf of Level Up Laptops. The appeal, launched by Brighton-based business SoPro in partnership with the Tarner Community Project and Tech-Takeback, delivered the 23 devices to Carlton Hill Primary School earlier today. This follows 20 laptops delivered to St Luke’s Primary School on Monday.

Tamsen Beer, Headteacher at Carlton Hill Primary School said “We have worked hard to create a fun and engaging online curriculum - but we realise that it is no good to our pupils if they can't access it!

There are still many of our families who are sharing devices with their siblings and/or parents and are therefore struggling. This incredibly generous initiative by Level Up Laptops will help us to continue to tackle the wide digital divide by giving these families a refurbished laptop to support the children with their remote learning. It will also bring these children back into our school community as they will be able to communicate with classmates and teachers through our blogs and video calls.”

20 refurbished laptops delivered to St Luke’s Primary School to support children learning from home

The Level Up Laptops appeal has made the first delivery of 20 refurbished laptops to St Luke’s Primary School. The laptops will be distributed to children with little or no access to IT equipment at home so that they may continue their education.

The appeal, launched by Brighton-based marketing technology business SoPro in partnership with Tech-Takeback and Tarner Community Project aims to supply refurbished devices to help bridge the digital divide.

Jonathan Cooper, Headteacher at St Luke’s said “These devices will really make a radical difference to the learning of many of the most vulnerable children at the school. These unwanted machines have been brought back to life and will help us ensure we can offer children quality online learning during lockdowns, alongside better communication and support.”

The laptops were collected from Brighton & Hove residents as part of Tech-Takeback’s RevaluElectricals collection service for unwanted electricals. The service launched in November 2020 in partnership with The ZeroNet and with support from Brighton & Hove City Council and the Recycle Your Electricals Campaign.

Tech-Takeback aims to provide data-erased, refurbished devices to children and vulnerable members of the community through a network of charity partners.
