"Coronavirus has intensified the UK's digital divide"
University of Cambridge
The ongoing pandemic has had a major impact on our lives; where we work, how we socialise, how we learn. While access to technology and the internet has allowed many of us to maintain some sense of normality through digital interaction - not everyone has had this opportunity. For those without access to internet-connected devices and the skills to use them, the pandemic has been particularly challenging.
Children without access to an internet-connected device are falling behind on their education and vulnerable adults are unable to interact with their friends and family. We are working in partnership with various charities including Digital Brighton & Hove, Citizens Online, Gateway Hub and Tarner Community Project as well as schools across the city to provide data-erased devices to members of our community - but we need your help!
Our urgent efforts to support the most vulnerable people in our community are made possible by the generosity of residents and businesses through the devices that you donate, and financial support that you offer. For more information on how you can support your community, please see below:

We'll remove all of your personal data using our certificated data-erasure process before preparing your items for reuse. Working closely with our charity partners, your items will reach those in most urgent need.

Help us support the people in our community with Digissentials
We've partnered up with Citizens Online and Digital Brighton & Hove to develop the Digissentials Support Package. We need to raise £2,500 to support 10 families in Brighton & Hove immediately, with a wider aim of raising £25,000 to support 100 families in Sussex.

"The children are benefitting so much from being able to do their work and keep in touch with school properly... I feel less guilty now as there is nothing to stop them doing their homework." |
CHILDREN & FAMILIES - We are working with local schools to distribute devices to schoolchildren with little or no access to digital devices for home schooling. Schools where pupils require support with laptops and tablets can get in touch via [email protected]. Please be aware that we are unable to distribute devices direct to children and so contact must be made via the school.
VULNERABLE ADULTS - If you're concerned about someone struggling with digital isolation during the ongoing lockdown restrictions, please see the Digital Brighton & Hove Covid-19 Network Resources for advice and support.
